Established in 1972, Dundurn Press is a leading independent book publisher based in Toronto, Canada. We seek to amplify and elevate exceptional Canadian voices to the world, particularly those that have not yet been discovered or have been previously underrepresented in trade publishing. We publish across numerous genres from literary and genre fiction, to biography, memoir, history, lifestyle, business, and public policy. Dundurn's literary imprint Rare Machines was founded in 2021 to publish literary fiction that is playful, unusual, daring, or innovative. BOOKS IN PRINT, AUDIO, and ON SCREEN. Going "Beyond the Book." Durvile & UpRoute Books, a proud Canadian indie press, publishes print books, audiobooks, and e-books. The Durvile imprint features the True Cases Series and true crime titles, and the UpRoute imprint concentrates on Indigenous titles with some poetry and art. Titles are available through University of Toronto Press (UTP) or through their e-commerce pages. Durvile also includes an audio and print production division, Pepper Ranch Studio.

ECW Press is an independent publisher producing a mix of about fifty literary and commercial books each year. A certified B Corp based in Toronto, its titles are about Entertainment Culture Writing, delving into fiction, poetry, crime fiction, young adult fiction, biographies and memoirs, music, TV and film, popular science, the environment, wrestling, and sports. Engage Books strives to publish books that make a difference; books that help children think critically about the world. Their goal is to help children become informed and engaged citizens who can help make the world a better place. Engage's books go beyond reporting on typical facts. They teach children about the broader world and the impacts their individual and collective actions have. Part of educating children to become informed citizens means making them aware of social issues to help them understand the world they are set to inherit. Engage hopes that by informing children about these issues, we can inspire them to come up with solutions for them as they grow older. Engage Books believes in speaking to children as creative and imaginative individuals who may one day change the world. All children deserve access to information that will help them grow and thrive in a fast-changing world. Engage's books are available in more than 20 different languages so all children have the tools they need to better understand their world. Engage Books believes in the philosophy that you should practice what you preach. As such, they have not pulped a single children's book since its creation in 2008 in an effort to decrease its impact on the environment.

Eye of Newt (EON) aims to publish imaginative books filled with new ideas and beautiful illustration. We do not shy away from quirky and strange stories. Our books will represent a wide range of voices and stories. EON's books provide a platform for readers to explore artistic expression and experience story in weird and wondrous ways. We publish rhyming or whimsical picturebooks, artist-driven projects, authentic mythology, and the occasional art book. We join in that infinite space where bold and inventive ideas can be explored. Above all, we seek highly imaginative storytelling and visually stunning creations that will catch readers’ minds and eyes.

Fernwood Publishing Co. Ltd. published its first books in 1992. Fernwood Publishing has an office in Black Point, Nova Scotia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fernwood and our literary imprint, Roseway, publish critical books that inform, enlighten and challenge. We are political publishers in that our books acknowledge, confront and contest intersecting forms of oppression and exploitation. We believe that in publishing books that challenge the status quo and imagine new ways forward we participate in the creation of a more socially just world. We are not afraid to take risks in this regard and are proud to publish those individuals or ideas that too often go unheard. While corporate giants act to silence dissent, we act to give dissent a voice. As an independent Canadian publisher, we also emphasize, though not exclusively, Canadian authors and the Canadian context. The First Nations Child and Family Caring Society (Caring Society for short) works to ensure the safety and well-being of First Nations youth and their families through education initiatives, public policy campaigns and providing quality resources to support communities. Using a reconciliation framework that addresses contemporary hardships for Indigenous families in ways that uplift all Canadians, the Caring Society champions culturally based equity for First Nations children and their families so that they can grow up safely at home, be healthy, achieve their dreams, celebrate their languages and culture and be proud of who they are. The Caring Society proudly works with our partners in Canada and around the world to promote the rights of Indigenous children.

Flanker Press produces 15-17 new titles per year, by Canadian authors. We publish non-fiction, fiction, children's illustrated books, drama and poetry, with a strong reprint program. Distribution: Distribute Direct.

Formac Publishing Company are publishers of Canadian travel guides, books about Atlantic Canada, children's novels and illustrated non-fiction, regional history, politics, fiction and cookbooks.

Freehand Books was established in 2007 as the literary imprint of the academic publisher Broadview Press with a very simple mandate: to publish excellent Canadian literature. In 2016, after publishing forty titles, Freehand became independent. Their list is an aesthetically diverse, award-winning collection of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction by both established authors and exciting new voices. Freehand prides themselves on careful attention to detail throughout the editorial process, the high production quality and innovative design of titles, and creativity in the marketing and promotion of each book.
