An experienced book designer and typesetter, I have over 100 books under my belt. I am known for clean elegant designs, attention to detail, and strong production and communication skills. I am a freelance cover designer for Shambhala Publications (Yoga Where You Are by Dianne Bondy and Kat Heagberg). Additionally, I have worked with numerous self-publishing authors in non-fiction, poetry, memoir, and children’s lit. I am a freelance editor with a prairie Métis perspective, currently living on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh people (Vancouver). I am passionate about amplifying Indigenous voices across all types of manuscripts. I have edited academic articles with an Indigenous focus in the areas of medicine, community wellbeing, and community engagement. I have also co-authored 13 peer-reviewed academic publications in the areas of Indigenous community engagement and applied social science research.

I am a copy editor based in Toronto, ON. I have more than 10 years’ experience working at the regulatory body for the legal professions (lawyer and paralegal) in its Marketing & Communications department. I have edited and written marketing and communications materials bound for both print and digital publication, including annual reports, government reports, a member magazine for lawyers, website content, newsletters and brochures. I’ve worked collaboratively with senior management, communications advisors, French translators and design teams to produce clean and error-free content on deadline. My subject specialties include: Ontario’s legal professions; arts and culture—specifically, film, theatre and dance; Black histories and cultures; transracial adoption (I am an adoptee.); intersectional feminism; LGBTQ2S+ people and experiences; race, class and gender; and Women’s Studies.

I am a member of Editors Canada and a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s publishing program. Before studying publishing, I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree, and I therefore have subject expertise in music. As a professional editor, I have worked on a wide range of texts, primarily as a copy editor and proofreader: self-help books for a publisher, museum texts and a company’s commemorative book as a subcontractor for a translator, a fantasy novel for an independent author, and a master’s dissertation on punk music. I also have extensive experience in the educational sphere: for a year and a half, I copy edited online courses (K–12 level; multiple subjects), which included editing alt text. I can code accessible epub files in addition to providing editing services. I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community (bisexual; grey ace; demisexual) and live with bipolar II disorder, and I am passionate about seeing these groups represented well.

I’m a creative based in Toronto, born and raised in Mexico City. A true believer in lifelong learning, a cinephile and swimmer at heart. I have been freelancing in Graphic Design and Illustration since 2017. I’m a Provisional Member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD). I have a Master’s in Visual Communication and Design from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, specializing in Editorial Design and Illustration. I have experience doing scientific illustrations for academic publications. As a Design Intern at PRH Canada, I created the ARC covers of several imprints. Additionally, I designed the tip-in for the paperback version of Sarah Polley’s “Run Towards The Danger,” all while developing a wide range of valuable skills during my time there.
