I am a writer, copyeditor, development editor and proofreader with a background in literary, cultural, and academic publishing. I have two creative writing degrees and an endless passion for stories and ideas. I work with independent authors, academics and others in the publishing industry to create and communicate.

My background is in arts, education and hospitality. I have co-created theatre pieces, mentored primary and secondary students in creative writing, and edited a literary journal.

For copyediting and proofreading work, my areas of specialization are the arts and humanities. For developmental editing I work with colleagues writing both fiction and nonfiction. I am especially interested in life writing and experimental forms of autobiography such as auto-ethnography, auto-fiction etc., and and pursue these facets of nonfiction in my own reading and writing practice.

Ann Doyon is a writer from Regina, Saskatchewan. She is an accomplished multi-media artist with a career that has spanned decades garnering national and international attention with her design and artworks being found in various private and public collections across Turtle Island. She has been working at Theytus Books for over a decade, currently in Production. She has done freelance design for some of the best publishers in Canada.

Nathan Caro Fréchette is a queer transgender sequential artist, designer, editor, publisher, and author. He has published over a dozen short stories, both graphic and prose, as well as five novels, three graphic novels, and two works of nonfiction. He is the author of the online comic Some Assembly Required on Tapas. He has taught creative writing over a decade, and has a degree in Film Studies and another in Sequential Art. He was the founder and director of the French Canadian literary magazine Histoires à Boire Debout, an editor for the French Canadian graphic novel publisher Premières Lignes, and is a co-founder of the Ottawa-based publisher Renaissance.

My name is Lisa Frenette and I am an Indigenous (Mi’kmaq) Freelance Editor who specializes in a variety of content including adult non-fiction books. I provide copy editing, proofreading, developmental editing and sensitivity reading. I am the copy editor for Inuit Art Quarterly Magazine and have edited for the First Nations Information Governance Centre and Fernwood Publishing. I am a proud member and volunteer for the Indigenous Editors Association as well as Editors Canada.

J.M. Frey is an author, screenwriter, and professional smartypants. She’s appeared in podcasts, documentaries, and on television to discuss all things geeky through the lens of academia. She holds a BA in Dramatic Literature and an MA in Communications and Culture.

Her debut novel TRIPTYCH was nominated for two Lambda Literary Awards, and garnered a place among the Best Books of 2011 from Publishers Weekly. Since then she’s published THE ACCIDENTAL TURN SERIES, a quadrilogy of meta-fantasy novels, and THE SKYLARK’S SAGA, a steampunk adventure duology. Her Wattpad-exclusive queer regency historical fiction novel THE WOMAN WHO FELL THROUGH TIME was honoured with a Watty Award in 2019, and will be published by W by Wattpad Books/ Macmillan as TIME AND TIDE in Fall 2024.

She is a bisexual, white, ciswoman who frequently walks with a cane.

With an English degree from The University of New Brunswick, I have worked with Doubleday-Random House, Mansfield Press, University of Toronto Press, Fernwood Publishing, and others. I am an architect turned graphic designer who have worked for different publishers on book layouts and cover designs. My design cross-pollinate simple logic with simple emotions, and they try to stay neutral and inclusive whenever possible.

Sohini Ghose is an independent editor with 14 years of global publishing experience. She has a Masters in English Literature from India where she was born and started her editing career. She started her career in-house with Cambridge University Press, India, and then moved to Seagull Books, a reputed global indie publisher. At Seagull, Sohini was one of the proofreaders for the 2012 Nobel laureate Mo Yan’s book, Pow! Sohini also helped set up the Seagull School of Publishing, where she taught editing for two years. In 2015, Sohini moved to Michigan, US, where she started her independent editing career, working with Big 5 publishers and university presses. During this time, she also authored textbooks for Macmillan India. She also worked as an in-house proofreader for Macmillan Learning. In 2019, she moved to Windsor, Canada, where she primarily works on fiction and creative nonfiction.
