Founded in 1901, University of Toronto Press (UTP) is Canada's leading scholarly publisher and one of the largest university presses in North America. UTP publishes serious nonfiction in the humanities, social sciences and business with well over 3,500 books currently in print. Each year, the Scholarly Publishing division produces approximately 160 new books, and the Higher Education division which focuses primarily on course books, publishes around 25 titles. Our books are released in print and electronic formats and are available on a global basis.
In addition to book publishing, UTP also publishes scholarly journals and provides publishing services to over 35 journal clients; operates P-Shift providing an e-publishing solution and support for editorial, typesetting, file conversion, digital asset management, and ebook distribution; runs a Distribution Division which warehouses and distributes books for UTP and approximately 70 client imprints; and through its Retail division, UTP operates six stores across four campuses for the University of Toronto and OCAD University.
